Anvil are proud to release 'Mules And Fire Hydrants' by Brighton based studio athlete Tiresias (Mark Williams). This release serves as a collaboration between Anvil and Mark's own Lumenessence Label responsible for the recent debut 7" by 'Mechanical Me'. The tracks are a fine blend of Tokyo Jazz and funk house which all adds up to the most Hi Fi Anvil release so far.

'Pussybrain' is a slow burner of a groove with a cool lolloping bassline, analogue distortion and a deep organ 'n' vibes action. What gives this track an edge is its irreverence and an attitude somewhere between the swagger of NY/Japanese outfit Cibo Mato and the confident musicality of Fila Brassillia. Tiresias goes up a gear on the flip to provide some splendid up tempo disco funk, with a bassline slinks while the melody tickles the senses.

Two totally different tracks but both pure quality. Already this release has been officially endorsed by Richard Kruder of Kruder & Dorfmeister fame and has received 4 out of 5 stars in the August 2000 edition of DJ Magazine.

Packaged in its ultra Lo-Fi sleeve, the records design is combination of work by artist Jacqui Chanarin and featuring the illustrations of Paul Emons.
